VICTORIAN
Looking for hints on period design? The UK has a great miniatures magazine that has articles by Jane Kubiesa, she researches period design for miniatures. This magazine is DollsHouse and Miniature Scene. In the August of 2011, issue 206, there is an article on the Victorian period.
I have a few posts on my blog with pictures of some Victorian houses I have visited and gotten some inspiration from: http://tulsatinystuff.blogspot.com/2011/12/gallier-house-new-orleans.html http://tulsatinystuff.blogspot.com/2011/12/queen-anne-style.html http://tulsatinystuff.blogspot.com/2011/12/overholser-mansion.html and most recently http://tulsatinystuff.blogspot.com/2012/01/victorian-rooms-cabins.html
Hi, my name is Kris and I make minis. I love to share what I make and this is where I do the sharing. I try to have a tutorial up by the 20th of every month. I make the mini accessories out of paper, mostly. If you are new to this blog be sure to search the entire blog. There is a lot to see and read about. I have techniques and tips sprinkled through out. I also make furniture and sell it on CDHM.org.
Thanks, Jyoti!
Jyoti had me make a bed from the Ballard Designs catalog. She chose a solid taupe for her fabric and I think it turned out nicely. The style of the bed is contemporary. I had fun making the pattern for this and I will certainly be making and putting one up on the CDHM.org site.
Hello and welcome to my blog. I am a miniaturist from the middle of America looking to share what I have learned over the years. I have a husband, Al, he's an architectural woodworker. He is responsible for teaching me the techniques that I have translated to miniatures. I have 3 children, Katie, 28, Ethan, 26 and Sammy, she's just turned 21. I live in a rural area on 5 acres with 2 standard size donkeys, chickens, 3 ducks, 3 cats, my rabbit, Ginger and a newcomer to the bunch a Beta fish named Frank. I hope you have a fun and productive visit. Take a look at my "Things to See, Things to Do" list at the top of the page. Make a miniature with me. I post a tutorial around the 20th of every month.
Thank you !! I go look for it.
